My Hair Journey

I always had my hair in a ponytail for most of my childhood it wasn’t until high school when I started to straight my hair every day basically from grade 9 to 11th grade I straightened my hair I loved it, it was easy to control. I was so naive thinking that there is no possible way my curls could go away, after years of straightening my hair my 3b curls became 2b curls. When I first looked at the damaged I caused and how the curls that I hated were gone I cried. I also learned that you don’t know what you have until its gone.

I had 3 choices (1) just keep straighten my hair and I just won’t have curly hair anymore (2) Shave all my hair off and start over and hope that my hair will grow fast. (3) do anything I can to heal and restore my curls if it’s even possible which I ended up doing. I first went to a hair dresser to see if they can give me any kind of advice the first thing she told me was to just cut it all off but I was very determined to do ANYTHING then to shave my hair.

So, I continued to do my own research found products to use (I’ll post all the products I used at the bottom) I continued to treated It every day and after a year my curls were slowly coming back to life it took about 3 years for my curls to fully restore. It took me so many years to realize that I should have just loved my curls and not be ashamed of what I had. Same goes to so many of you love your natural hair and love yourself.
